The online Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program equips graduates to address complex public health challenges on both local and global scales.

What You'll Learn and Do

Benefit from multiple learning environments.

As a low-residency online program, the DrPH program combines the flexibility of an online degree with the advantages of in-person learning. Students complete coursework asynchronously, leading to a dissertation, and participate in three distinct doctoral residencies held in Washington, D.C., and at Fairfield's campuses in Austin, Texas, and Fairfield, Conn.

Get personalized professional development.

Whether pursuing careers in postsecondary education or public health practice, DrPH students receive professional development tailored to their career goals and specializations. The program director guides students through the doctoral experience, providing valuable insights and networking opportunities within the field of public health practice.

Gain insight from interdisciplinary perspectives.

The Egan School boasts a full lineup of public health degrees, from baccalaureate to doctorate. Because the DrPH program is not situated within a separate school of public health, doctoral students may select dissertation committee members from outside of their department, bringing important interdisciplinary perspectives to the complex issues of public health.

Receive unmatched support in your journey.

In addition to personalized guidance and mentorship from Fairfield’s dedicated public health career coach, DrPH students receive support from research librarians, the writing center, and career center consultants. Students have access to a comprehensive digital library with public health journals, databases, and other research tools for dissertation and research assignments.
