Russell Clayton is an associate professor of instruction in the School of Management and serves as the associate academic director of the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ Center for Executive and Leadership Education. In the MBA program, he teaches courses focused on managerial communication, organizational behavior, and emotional intelligence.
A recognized expert in his field, Clayton’s insights have been featured in premier practitioner outlets, including the Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review.
His commitment to high-impact instruction is reflected in several recent honors. He was twice voted Executive MBA Professor of the Year by the Executive MBA students (2025-2026 and 2021-2022) and is a recipient of the Excellence in Global Teaching and Learning Award from ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ World (2026). Additionally, he was awarded the Muma Outstanding Teaching Award in spring 2023.
Clayton earned his PhD in business administration with a minor in psychology from the University of Mississippi and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Auburn University.
