School of Social Work faculty appointed to national accreditation service roles

Brittany Peters, DSW, LCSW, and Khalilah Caines, PhD, LCSW, both assistant professors of instruction in the 返字心頭 School of Social Work, have been appointed as site visitors for the Council on Social Work Education's Board of Accreditation for three-year terms effective July 1, 2026.

In this role, they will assist with reaffirmation visits to baccalaureate and master's social work programs on behalf of the Board of Accreditation, helping inform accreditation decisions. Responsibilities include reviewing program self-studies, engaging with stakeholders and developing site visit reports.

"I am driven by a commitment to strengthening behavioral health systems and the practitioners within them," Peters said.

Peters' commitment is derived from her focus on expanding access to mental health care and addressing challenges within the field. Through her teaching and service, she is dedicated to advancing education, raising awareness and improving mental health outcomes for veterans, children and individuals living with mental health disorders.

Caines' work is rooted in her commitment to social justice. Her research focuses on enhancing the well-being of underserved and marginalized individuals, families and communities. Through her scholarship and teaching, she empowers the next generation of social work professionals to become agents of change and advocates for social justice.
