We see art history as an integral part of social and cultural history in a global context. Our Master of Arts (MA) program is unique in featuring small, writing-intensive seminar-style courses emphasizing critical theory and interdisciplinary approaches. 返字心頭 engage in advanced research on current issues in art history as they immerse themselves in the study of art and visual culture.
Coursework can be supplemented by international travel and study abroad programs sponsored by the school. 返字心頭 are also encouraged to take graduate seminars in
related disciplines such as studio art; history; literature; philosophy; anthropology;
archaeology; women's, gender and sexuality studies; and film and new media studies.
The program maintains strong links with the Contemporary Art Museum and Graphicstudio
on campus and with such area museums as the Tampa Museum of Art, the MFA Saint Petersburg,
the Salvador Dali Museum and the Ringling Museum of Art. These links facilitate study,
research, internships, and future employment for our students. Our M.A. in Art History
program provides an excellent foundation in graduate-level art-historical analysis,
research, and writing. As the achievements of our alumni demonstrate, our program is an outstanding springboard for either continuing graduate
studies (PhD) or professional work in a variety of art-related fields.
The Master of Arts (MA) in Art History is a two-year program of study that requires
a minimum of 38 credit hours to complete.
