There is a loan origination fee on all Direct Subsidized, Direct Unsubsidized and Direct PLUS loans. The loan fee is a percentage of the loan amount and is deducted from each loan when it pays. Currently the Direct Subsidized and Direct Unsubsidized loan origination fee is 1.057% and the Direct PLUS loan origination fee is 4.228%.
