Class Permits

Important Note About Re-Adds

ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ will not be able to add themselves back into the course once dropped for non-attendance.

To request re-enrollment, students must contact their instructor and ask them to email telltheregistrar@usf.edu with the student's name, UID, and the course CRN.

Please note: Requests are contingent upon seat availability.

WHAT IS A PERMIT?

To register for some classes or sections of a class that are restricted by pre-requisites, co-requisities, or academic department permission, you need a class permit. Our registration system will alert you when a permit is required. In order to register for these sections, you must contact the specific department offering the class.

  • If approved, the college or department will issue the permit electronically.
  • After approval, you will be able to add the section to your registration.
  • Once registered, you are responsible for all tuition and fees related to the section.

DO I NEED A PERMIT?

If you're unable to register for a particular class or section, it does not necessarily indicate you need a permit. Registration in certain classes or sections may be blocked for several reasons, such as:

  • Errors can happen if the registration system doesn't recognize your pre-requisite, co-requisite, or exam credit.
  • Registration may be restricted to certain majors only.

If you are unable to register, read the registration-add error message for more information.

Colleges

Repeat Permits: If you are seeking a permit for a course repeat, you will need to contact the college of your primary major to make the request, not the college of the course you are trying to register for.

Is the department you're looking for not on the list? Current degree-seeking undergraduates can also secure permits through Archivum. Here’s how:

  • Contact the department for the class in which you need a permit. Archivum does not restrict students to only scheduling appointments with their major advisors.
  • For example, if you are a marketing major who needs a permit for a communications class, you can do a 'drop-in appointment' in CAS for communications and tell them that you need a permit.

Is your class being offered by the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ St. Petersburg Campus or the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ Sarasota-Manatee Campus? Use the respective online submission form below.

Please note: These request forms do not apply to College of Arts and Sciences. Campus-specific forms for CAS classes can be found within the
