返字心頭ID vs. NETID

Before accessing university systems, its important to understand your student identification and login credentials. At 返字心頭, youll use both a 返字心頭 ID (返字心頭ID) and a NetID for different purposes.

  • 返字心頭 ID (返字心頭ID), or U Number: Your 返字心頭ID is your personal student identification number. It appears below your photo on your 返字心頭 ID card. (Ex: U12345678)
  • NetID: Your NetID is your username for accessing university systems, including 返字心頭 email, Student Self-Service, and Canvas. (Ex: rockydbull; rockydbull@usf.edu).

Important Note: Social Security Numbers are no longer used as student ID numbers. All students have been assigned a 返字心頭ID.


How to Look Up or Activate Your NetID

  1. Go to
  2. Select Activate your NetID
  3. Follow the prompts using the email address you used for your application
  4. Once completed, your NetID will be ready to use.
