Genspiration Global Explorers Scholarship
The prestigious Genspiration Global Explorers (GGE) Scholarship provides high-achieving Judy Genshaft Honors College students with $10,000 to further their academic pursuits beyond the Tampa Bay region. ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ have used the scholarship to study in England, perform archival research in Spain, and present at medical conferences in New Zealand.

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
The GGE Scholarship is a competitive award that inspires and empowers outstanding students who choose the University of South ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ Judy Genshaft Honors College.
It is designed to support students with a proven record of academic excellence and a dedication to pushing themselves beyond expectations. This award invites applications from students of all majors, backgrounds, and ambitions. ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ interested in developing big ideas that can impact the world are strongly encouraged to apply.
GGE Scholarships are awarded to qualified prospective First-Time-In-College (FTIC) students who commit to joining the Honors College.
Minimum requirements:
- Admission to ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ and the Judy Genshaft Honors College
- Minimum ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ recalculated GPA of 4.0
- Minimum SAT score of 1450 or ACT score of 33
Benefits
Awardees receive $10,000 to use toward an approved international or domestic travel experience that supports their academic endeavors at ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬. Examples include:
- Study away or study abroad programs
- Conference presentations
- Internships
- Research opportunities
Funding may cover expenses such as:
- Airfare
- Program cost
- Tuition and registration
- Room and board
- Meals
A Curated Experience
Awarded students also receive support from the GGE scholarship coordinator, both before they arrive at ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ and throughout their undergraduate journey. The coordinator can help with securing on-campus housing, connecting with campus resources, and answering questions about the Honors College.
Once at ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬, students work with the coordinator through regular consultations, one-on-one meetings, workshops, and program updates. This guidance ensures students can plan, implement, and maximize the full benefit of the GGE Scholarship.
Faculty and Peer Support
During their first semester, GGE awardees take a tailored section of the first-year seminar, Acquisition of Knowledge: Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Practical Wisdom (AOK). This course is taught by Professor Benjamin Scott Young, director for United Kingdom Honors programs and first-year Honors seminar, who mentors GGE students and helps them explore the many opportunities available.
ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ also connect with former GGE recipients who share insights from their global and academic experiences.
How to Apply
Applications for the GGE Scholarship are made during the ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ admissions process and are open to all prospective students who meet eligibility requirements.
Scholarship applications are reviewed by a Judy Genshaft Honors College GGE Selection Committee in three rounds: Early Action, Standard, and Final.

ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ have spent a semester studying at sea, conducted cancer research at Yale University, completed archival research in Seville, and joined Honors study abroad programs such as Semester in England.
Kelsey Sherman

Kelsey Sherman graduated from ÊÖ»ú¿´Æ¬ in spring 2025 as a King O’Neal Scholar and Golden Bull recipient with degrees in political science and sustainability studies. A fall 2022 recipient, she used the scholarship to attend the GREEN program in Iceland, where she gained hands-on experience with the country’s renewable energy facilities and ignited her passion for sustainability.
Kelsey is now pursuing environmental policy at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, where she was selected for the prestigious Axel Adler Scholarship.
